Debt Free Weirdos

Its Weird to Be Debt Free - Start Being Weird Today!

I just finished reading the above Hubpages post. I have a Hubpage for one of my blogs, but find I get more traffic and response from my Squidoo Lenses.

I was really surprised in February when I got an email notifying me that I just received a payment to my Paypal account from Squidoo. It looks like I'll be getting another payment this month.

Payments come out about 6 weeks after the end of a month. If you make your minimum selected payout amount by the end of a month, you receive a payment 6 weeks or so later.

I have my payout threshold set pretty low, $5. But, the payout I received was nearly $10 and pays for my monthly web hosting service on HostGator.

It's not a lot yet, but it's a start, and it pays for a service I need to keep earning money online through my blogs.

This is where it starts. You get something paying for itself. Then you get it paying more than it costs and you make a profit.

I'm glad you posted this!! I've had mixed feelings about Squidoo but this post has made my view of them a more positive one. It's reassuring to find out that not only do sites pay, but it's possible to get to a point with them where you do get a payout!

It's important to keep plugging along and eventually your blog will start paying. I have a Squidoo Lens for each of my 7 blogs, so my payout is from the earnings of all put together.

The important things to focus on are producing great content, building a relationship with your readers, and steadily driving traffic to your blog. The other thing is to build an email list from your blog and provide a newsletter or report they can have for free for signing up. Then you can market to that niche by both your blog and your list. The money is in the list.

Best of luck to you!

I think I have made close to $10 total from Squidoo for 2007. LOL

I reset my payout threshold down to $1 on Squidoo and I got another payout for $4.09. Not as much as last time, but every little bit helps, especially when I don't have to do anything with my lenses to get them to pay me.

eBay is paying the most right now. I use it on my Invader Zim Episodes blog and since the move to the eBay Partners Network I've made some sales.

I watched the StomperNet Going Natural 2.0 video "Click Fu" and implemented the strategy of putting the link to buy or the add to cart button in the middle of the page instead of at the left. My sales have increased. I can't tell what % yet because I just implemented it.

The key is to put the links and buttons to make sales directly below the text or pictures so they are in the focused area of the reader's vision field.

I'm testing center-justified links right now. Next month I'm going to test right-justified links. I'll keep you posted.
