Speech writing is in lots of ways similar writing a paper, apart from that there is no penalty for spelling and punctuation mistakes. You should not try to write words in your speech that you are not relaxed pronouncing or don't know the meaning of because it can lead to a less fluently delivered speech.
To be able to write a high-quality speech is a lot like making a good cake. Having the right elements is key for it's success. Every…

Here’s an alarming statistic: Americans spent twice as much on their credit cards in January 2008 as they did the month previous.
Thanks to the subprime mortgage crisis, people that were using home equity lines of credit are now turning to credit cards.
According to Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. in New York, “There’s not much gas left in the tank. In the early stage of a recession, consumers tend to rely on credit cards to see them through the har…

I just did my taxes for the first time in a LONG time. I only did them for 2007, though. I have to call somebody, a tax expert, I guess? And see what I need to do about the years I did not file them. Of course, I can't find my NetFile access code so even though I've processed my taxes and have the results ready to send, I can't send them. I'm a bit bummed about this because this is something I really wanted to accomplish today. They won't give me a new ## over the internet or telephone because I…

Ah, so now it starts to get interesting.
I am currently the only source of income for our family. And, as of this past weekend, I am currently on bedrest. Oh bother.
I cannot begin to tell you the panic I felt at first. I'm looking at up to 12 weeks on bedrest (hopefully more like 8) but that's a lot of time with no income. But, after taking a step back and looking at the situation, we should be fine. We have been saving for maternity leave anyway, so we have a decent amount set aside to pay e…

Its funny how childhood dreams get lost in the hubub of real life. When I was a child I dreamt of being a writer. But somehow throughout my teenage and adult years that dream got lost. When I left high school; the only thing that was on my mind was to get a job to earn money.
So I got a dead end job waitressing. I hated it but loved the weekly paycheck. A couple of years later I met my partner and became a stay at home mother to two beautiful children. Somehow my dreams got even more l

Gotta love those first posts:)
So. My name is Kelly, my credit rating is truly horrific and like a lot of people out there, I'm in debt. I'm lucky that I'm in debt to family members, I think, and not banks and other creditors. At least my family doesn't send me to collections agencies. It's my goal to pay them off and make enough money to move out for good. I've made several attempts at this but I think that until I take myself seriously, it won't happen. I think this website and forum…

I have to thank Amy for the wonderful new site. I absolutely love it.
I love having a place to come and post/talk about debt, getting out of it, and staying far away from it. How many people do you know that actually say they enjoy talking about debt? Honestly, it's one of my favorite things since I've become obsessed with overcoming it.
We stumbled upon Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover back in the second half of 2005. We had been "fine" up until then. Everything was current.

BD (Before Dave) our mantra throughout the year would be "Maybe we'll get that with our taxes". Anything from a vacation to a heated garage. This year, as soon as we knew how much we were getting back, we sat down and spent that money on paper. This way we won't be tempted by all that pretty money in the bank account. We have a Plan. It feels good to know that soon we will have our $1000 tucked away and we can get serious about paying off our bills.

FICO stands for Fair Issac Corporation. Bill Fair and Earl Issac started a consulting company in the 1950’s and developed FICO scores, which measure credit risk.
I keep trying to think of alternate definitions for the FICO acronym:
- Floundering In Credit Oppression.
- Forgetting I’m Credit Oppressed.
- Forever Instant Credit Organization.
- Financially I’m Constantly Overwhelmed.
- Fighting Idiot Credit Oppressors.
Those aren’t very

I wanted to make my first blog post be about my current financial situation.
I started with $72,900 worth of debt and decided that I was going to pay it off within 2 years. I am coming up close to my one year mark and I still have $61,782.05 left to pay off.
I am not too worried about it. I have come a long way in the past year and I am sure I will be able to pay off the remainder by April 2009 (my personal deadline).
I have been working online doing internet marketin…
